Fishtrap Fireside moves to First Fridays
The 5th season of Fishtrap Fireside kicks off October 6 with readings from three Wallowa County locals, Lauren MacDonald, Jon Rombach, and Evelyn Swart. An open mic follows where audience members have a chance to get up and share their stories too.
Friday, October 6 at 7:00pm
Fishtrap, 400 E. Grant St. Enterprise
Fireside is a free monthly event for Wallowa County writers to read and share their work. The community is encouraged to attend these events, enjoy light refreshments, and hear new work by local writers.
More about October’s featured readers:
Lauren MacDonald is a new resident to Wallowa County. She was born and raised in St. Louis and moved west to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012. After 4 years, she was ready to leave the city hustle and came upon Wallowa County by way of a dear friend. Here she works as a nurse and has started an herbal medicine practice. Lauren’s writing is simply from the heart. She gravitates to poems, as they feel most accessible and succinct to her right now. Lauren self published her first book of poems called “Open Heart” and is excited to start working with Fishtrap on a seasonal zine with local contributors.
Jon Rombach writes a column for the Wallowa County Chieftain. He works for Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries half the year and devotes the other months to lying on his couch, reading Ross Thomas spy novels and his continued research into the late cretaceous period ceratopsid, Achelousaurus.
Evelyn Swart enjoys writing about her experiences of which she has had many. She grew up in Idaho and graduated from the University of Idaho and the University of Oregon. Her vocational experiences included everything from first grade teacher to superintendent with a stint at university teaching. She is mother of three children and grandmother of four. For sixteen years, she has had the good fortune to be married to Don Swart. Even though she enjoys living in Joseph, she is mindful of people around the world who do not have such luck
