Zooming in and Zooming Out: Directing the Reader’s Focus
How do your favorite writers keep you on your toes without losing you? Join Fishtrap’s Writer in Residence Sally Parrish for a seven week generative writing class. In this class, we’ll take our inspiration from the writerly craft of leaping – from a focus on the tiniest of details to the big picture; from one character’s perspective to another’s; from memory to present day; from the everyday to the surreal; and so much more…
We’ll read various poets, short story writers, and essayists, pondering the whys and hows of their specific craft choices. We’ll try our hands at leaps we might never have attempted on our own and cheer each other on as we adopt the moves of writers we most admire (and maybe discover some moves of our own along the way).
This weekly class begins February 3rd and meets Monday nights from 7 – 9 pm through March 17th at the Fishtrap House (400 E Grant St, Enterprise). Cost is $60 and is required to hold your place in the class. Enrollment is limited to 12 and is open to anyone interested in reading and writing.
Monday nights from 7-9pm
