Fishtrap's Radio Storytelling
Fishtrap’s Radio Storytelling program is a perfect example of a volunteer-driven program. Wallowa County resident and former Alaskan Kathy Hunter belongs to that creative and expressive tribe of lore-bearers known as storytellers. And she is not jealous of her craft – she can be seen smiling from ear to ear as she enjoys another storyteller’s performance.
Back in 2000, Kathy hatched the idea of producing a half-hour radio show to feature stories for children. Young children especially, but also all those young at heart listeners. Ever since, she has recorded stories, researched traditional and contemporary stories from around the world, recruited community members to read those stories, and broadcast those stories for the listening pleasure of Wallowa County residents – and everyone within earshot of KWVR radio.
You can listen in on Sunday evenings at 7 pm from November through March, at 92.1 FM or 1340 AM.
Radio Storytelling would not be possible without the generous support of the following sponsors. We hope you will, in turn, support them.
The Bookloft
Winding Waters Eye Clinic
L.D. Perry, General Contractor
Mountain Air Café
Kevin’s Tires
Wallowa Food City
Enterprise Electric
Dr. Bruce Cummings.
Please give these kind people a personal thank you.
And look for us next November on KWVR!
Keep Listening, and Live Happily Ever After!
Kathy Hunter
