SHANNON MASLACH moved from Portland to Joseph with her family in 1998 in search of community, outdoor life and opportunities to make a difference after retiring from a 20 year career in the utility industry. She has worked in the local school district, as a small business owner, in banking, and has served as a member of the Joseph Public Library Board for the past ten years. She served with the Oregon Heritage MentorCorp supporting statewide libraries and museums in collection care, development and emergency management. Wallowa County has offered Shannon many opportunities to live and work among members of multi-generational local families, historians, teachers, artists, ranchers, farmers, adventurers, musicians, and of course, writers.
