The season finale of Fishtrap Fireside takes place Friday, April 3 at Fishtrap on Main Street in Enterprise featuring Wallowa County students Alba Braden, Lauren McBurney, and Abbigail Park. Doors and open mic sign ups open at 6:30pm.
Fishtrap Fireside is a monthly reading series designed to celebrate diverse voices from local writers and storytellers. Each month offers a fresh look at what people who live in Northeast Oregon are thinking about and writing down. Since the program launched in 2013, more than 170 writers have stepped up to the podium to share something they’ve written. With each Fishtrap Fireside event, the audience gets to enjoy a variety of storytelling from their friends and neighbors including poetry, fiction, history, humor, memoir, sci-fi fantasy, essay, travelog, food stories, comedy, and much more.
Fishtrap Fireside takes place at Fishtrap’s event space on Main Street in Enterprise. For those who can’t make it in-person, anyone anywhere can take in Fireside online at Fishtrap.org and on Fishtrap’s YouTube Channel. Admission is free although donations are always welcome. Light snacks are provided and drinks are available for purchase. An open mic takes place after the featured readings. Five spots are available to sign up for when the doors open at 6:30pm. Writers of all ages and experience are encouraged to come.

Alba Braden
Alba Braden is a leader of the Sophomore class and officer among fellow FFA members at Wallowa High School. She is one who takes her schooling and education seriously and with great effort, never shying away from a challenge. When she isn’t at school, she focuses her growth towards her quickly evolving life at the ballet academy here in Wallowa County, where she has been dancing for nearly 10 years. These responsibilities have shown her the vast and open opportunities that her future holds for her and she can’t wait to get started!
Lauren McBurney
Lauren McBurney is a student leader from Joseph, Oregon, who serves as a rodeo queen and a national officer in FCCLA. Through these roles, she has represented her community at events, strengthened her public speaking and leadership skills, and worked to positively impact others. Rooted in the values of hard work and service, Lauren is committed to growing as a leader while staying connected to her small-town community.
Abbigail Park
Abbigail Park is a sophomore from Enterprise Oregon. She is an avid reader and writer, and is a part of leadership programs like Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. Abbigail is an ambitious student who strives to improve her skills as a student and a writer. Through observation and quiet creativity, Abbigail spends her time crafting worlds and stories with the hope of becoming a published novelist.
