Stories grow here because of the generosity of our donors. Here are more meaningful ways to support Fishtrap and the writers, readers, and communities we serve.
IRA Qualified Distribution
If you are 70½ years old or older, there’s a great way to support the Fishtrap programs you love and receive tax benefits in return. With a Qualified Charitable Distribution, you can donate all or part of your required minimum distribution up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to Fishtrap. You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
How to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution to Fishtrap:
- Instruct the firm that manages your IRA to direct some or all of your Required Minimum Distribution to Fishtrap.
- Your firm will ask for Fishtrap’s EIN# and mailing address:
- EIN#: 93-1075971
- PO Box 38, Enterprise, OR 97828
- The firm will send the money directly to Fishtrap, or send you a check made out to the Fishtrap, which you can then forward.

Planned Giving
Planned Gifts are a way to make a lasting contribution without affecting your current financial security. Please consider including Fishtrap (EIN# 93-1075971) in your will, retirement account plans, or Living Trust. You may choose to leave a specific amount of cash, a percentage of your total estate, or the residual assets after other commitments have been fulfilled. Since bequests are deductible from the estate, including a charitable gift in your estate plan can result in significant tax savings for your family. Learn more about why you should have a will.
Fishtrap will send you an acknowledgement for your tax records. Questions? Contact us.
Fishtrap believes in your rights as a donor and rights to privacy. All gifts made to Fishtrap are handled internally to maintain your data security.
