The NEA Big Read

Fishtrap had a great time celebrating The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros for the NEA Big Read program in February and March 2022 with . Check it out here.

The Big Read is a partnership between The National Endowment for the Arts and Arts Midwest to broaden our understandings of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.

Each winter over 4-6 weeks, Fishtrap hosts free community-wide programs for readers, students, and families to explore themes and perspectives of the selected book. Events include a kick-off, book discussions, lectures, celebrations, film screenings and more to inspire conversation and discovery. Fishtrap also distributes hundreds of free books to schools and libraries in Wallowa and Union Counties.

Fishtrap has hosted The Big Read in Northeastern Oregon since it began in 2006.
