Learn about the role women played upon settling the Oregon Territory including 19th century gender norms and stereotypes, women as moral guardians and purveyors of culture, and a look at clothing and fashion on the Oregon Trail.

Sarah Sherman: Sarah Sherman is the project manager for the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Sarah hails from the commonwealth of Virginia, and after spending some time in Arizona, recently moved her small family to Oregon in May of 2022.
