Wandering through the World of Words

Youth entering grades 5-8

With the beauty of the natural world all around us and the beauty of creativity within us, why not bring these together to see what brilliance unfolds?

That’s exactly what we will do!

In this weeklong workshop, we will explore creative writing (stories, poems, reader’s theater) and practice capturing our worlds in words to share with others. Participants will delve into elements of story and types of poem while engaging our senses, playing with plots, crafting characters, and using different creative means that inspire us. We will utilize our imaginations, creativity, ideas, and hearts to make magic happen on the page, and we will learn a little more about ourselves and others as we do this. Also, we will practice offering constructive feedback on the work of others and will revise our own work to help our words really sing! Participants should be ready to use their bodies and minds to interact with self, others, and nature as we wander through the wonderous world of words!
