Summer Fishtrap Gathering
It was great getting to support such different writers. To hear all their work and think about their strengths as writers and consider how to incorporate those strengths into my writing. —2016 Summer Fishtrap participant
Summer Fishtrap is a week-long writer’s conference located in the heart of the Wallowa Mountains at the south end of Wallowa Lake – with workshops in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoir, and special workshops just for youth. Each year, we gather authors and instructors from around the country to provide intensive instruction to a small group of writers. Classes are limited to no more than 13 students which gives every writer the chance to share their work in an intimate and supportive environment.
What makes Summer Fishtrap unique among writing conferences is the emphasis on the creative process. The week is about generating new work, taking risks, and learning from the instructors and writers that surround you. The remote location and stunning scenery of Wallowa County provide inspiration which for so many, makes Summer Fishtrap a life-changing experience.
