Fishtrap Fireside launches its 10th season of readings and storytelling with a celebration featuring three generations of storytellers from one Wallowa County family; Janie Tippett, Todd Nash, and Adele Schott.

Fishtrap Fireside is a monthly reading series designed to feature diverse voices from local Wallowa County writers. Each month offers a fresh look at what people of the West are thinking about and writing down. Anyone anywhere can take in Fireside online at Fishtrap.org and on Fishtrap’s YouTube Channel

The October Fishtrap Fireside is sponsored by The Bookloft

More on the featured readers for October below:

Adele Schott calls Wallowa County, “The County” and also, “Home.” She was brought up slightly feral on her family’s multi-generational ranch where she decided she wanted to be a cowboy when she grew up. And so she did. Besides cowboying around the west Adele has been among other things, a cocktail waitress in downtown Austin, an exchange student in Buenos Aires, a van dwelling surfer in Mexico, a culinary student in Texas, and most recently, a wife and mother to the three best men she has ever known.

Influenced by some of the greatest storytellers around, Adele has always loved to write. Mostly she writes lists but sometimes she finds the quiet space to write down her musings, recipes, and experiences. Those are some of her favorite moments.

Todd Nash is a rancher, a Wallowa County commissioner, and President of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association. This is his second time reading at Fishtrap Fireside.

Janie Tippett is a fourth generation rancher, mother of four, stepmother to three, grandmother, and great grandma. She is the author of Four Lines a Day: The Life and Times of an Imnaha Ranch Woman and recently published a six volume collection of her articles for Agritimes Magazine titled, Janie’s Journal: 31 Years of Ranch Life in Wallowa County, Oregon. Janie is also a photographer, outdoor enthusiast, is active in two writer’s groups, and has been a part of the Fishtrap community of writers since the beginning.
