Weekly Events and Discussions Online and In-Person
February 15 to March 22, 2023
This winter, join us as we read a great work of literature together during Fishtrap Reads: The Jump-Off Creek by Oregon author and a Fishtrap favorite, Molly Gloss. The Jump-Off Creek is the unforgettable story of homesteader Lydia Sanderson and her struggles to settle in the mountains of Oregon in the 1890s. The book gives readers an intimate look at the hardships of frontier life and a courageous woman determined to survive.
Throughout February and March, Fishtrap is providing free books and resources to schools, libraries, and community centers in Wallowa and Union Counties. Plus, we’re hosting weekly public events and discussions online and in-person, so you can join us where ever you are!

Thanks to our Fishtrap Reads Sponsors and Partners:
Fishtrap has presented Fishtrap Reads or an NEA Big Read program every winter since 2006 as a way to bring a great work of literature to our communities by providing public events, discussions, and free books to Wallowa and Union County schools, libraries, and the general public. Fishtrap has partnered with several organizations to bring Fishtrap Reads to our communities including Art Center East, Cook Memorial Library, Eastern Oregon University Library, and the Historic Union Community Hall. The program is supported locally by Community Bank and The Bookloft.
