You can also join us for a monthly Youth writing group which will meet at 10:00am before each open mic session. The group will focus on writing for mental health.

Why an open mic? In 2025, the World Health Organization reported that an astounding 21% of adolescents aged 13-17 experience feelings of loneliness and isolation. This statistic makes teenagers the highest reported demographic in the study. Through this upcoming open-mic series, Fishtrap hopes to encourage Wallowa County’s teen writers to share their projects & ideas with other young people in a safe, brave space; to foster a deep sense of belonging and community; and to provide students with access to resources that can help further their literacy journey as they approach adulthood.
